Dr. Marisela “MJ” Jimenez: Champion for Prosperity

Marisela Jimenez, candidate for Representative of State House District 150

With a wealth of experience and expertise in community, business development, and education, Dr. Marisela Jimenez brings a unique perspective to her campaign for Texas State Representative.

MJ Will Work to Support:

I DO NOT SUPPORT SCHOOL VOUCHERS! Public schools play a crucial role in our society, and their importance extends beyond individual achievement.

  • Funding by Taxpayers: Public schools are funded by taxpayers, making them a collective investment in the education of our communities. This financial support ensures that all students have access to quality education, regardless of their background or socioeconomic status.
  • Equal Protection and Student Rights: Public schools uphold students’ rights, including equal protection under the law. The 14th Amendment ensures that every student has the right to an education without discrimination.
  • Safe Spaces: Public schools provide a safe environment for students. Initiatives like Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) aim to improve educational outcomes while prioritizing student well-being and safety.
  • Opportunities for All: Public schools open doors to opportunities. They serve as a pathway for students who may have limited access to resources, helping them reach their full potential.

Your decision to support Marisela “MJ” Jimenez who advocates for public schools is very significant in ensuring that District 150 students’ future is filled with hope, economic opportunities, and equality. Encouraging teachers, staff, parents, students, business partners, and community members to vote, October 21st through November 1st, during Early Voting in District 150 and on November 5 during the General Election will contribute to safeguarding the future of public education. Your vote will significantly impact students’ destiny.

NOTE: SCHOOL VOUCHERS ARE A SCAM THAT WILL SEVERELY HURT CHILDREN IN TEXAS PUBLIC SCHOOLS. Discover why school vouchers are considered a misuse of taxpayers’ money.

I support women’s reproductive rights, not because I’m a woman, but because it’s a human right.

  • Right to Health: Access to reproductive health services is a woman’s human right.
  • Right to Privacy: Women have the right to make decisions about their own bodies.
  • Right to Equality: Ensuring reproductive rights helps to eliminate gender discrimination and promotes equality by allowing women to participate fully in society.

Your support for women’s reproductive rights will ensure that every boy, growing up to be a man of character, will know how to Honor, Respect, and Embrace the Free Will of every girl for generations to come. It’s time to treat women as human beings because they are also created equal.

My commitment to human rights reinforces my position to follow U.S. laws while ensuring that we treat every immigrant with Respect, Beneficence, and Justice.

  • Clear and Accessible Pathways: Providing legal and accessible pathways for people to enter and remain in the country. This includes work visas, family reunification, and asylum processes.
  • Humane Treatment: Ensuring that immigrants are treated with dignity and respect. This includes humane conditions in detention centers, fair treatment during deportation processes, and protection against exploitation and abuse.
  • Efficient and Fair Processing: Streamlining the immigration process to reduce backlogs and wait times. This also involves fair and transparent decision-making processes for visa and asylum applications.
  • Integration Support: Offering support for immigrants to integrate into society, such as language classes, job training, and access to education and healthcare.
  • Addressing Root Causes: Working with other countries to address the root causes of migration, such as violence, poverty, and lack of opportunities in the immigrants’ home countries.
  • Fair Enforcement: Ensuring that immigration laws are enforced fairly and justly, with appropriate penalties for violations that do not disproportionately impact certain groups.

Your support for fair immigration policies will help mitigate the harm caused by ideological biases and corrupt practices.

Small businesses play a crucial role in the U.S. economy, and I will always continue to advocate for their success in our communities.

  • Job Creation: Small businesses are responsible for creating two-thirds of new jobs in the U.S. economy. This makes them a significant driver of employment growth.
  • Economic Activity: They account for about 44% of the U.S. gross domestic product (GDP). This means nearly half of the economic activity in the country is generated by small businesses.
  • Innovation and Competition: Small businesses often drive innovation and increase competition within industries. Their ability to adapt quickly to changing market conditions allows them to introduce new products and services, fostering a dynamic economic environment.
  • Community Impact: Successful small businesses reinvest in their local communities through paychecks and taxes, which can support the creation of new businesses and improve public services.
  • Resilience: During economic downturns, small businesses tend to be more resilient and adaptable compared to larger corporations. This resilience helps stabilize the economy during tough times.

By supporting our local community of businesses, you are helping them to thrive, and when they succeed, our communities are better off.

It’s Time to Protect & Improve District 150

Let’s tackle the realities of life in our unincorporated district.

Let’s take incremental, actionable, coordinated, measurable, and transparent steps to address the rapid urbanization of Spring and Klein.

It’s time to improve the district’s aging infrastructure.

It’s time to support critical services like Law Enforcement, Fire Department, ESD, Neighborhoods Safety, and Public Schools.

It’s time to help local small businesses thrive.

When a local community has a robust network of small businesses, it creates opportunities for other individuals, and this is how businesses and communities thrive together and co-create sustainability for long-term resiliency.

Incumbent Valoree Swanson’s voting record highlights her failure to prioritize the needs of Spring and Klein constituents.

We have the right to remove the incumbent this November 5 from her position because she has failed to represent us. The incumbent has served since 2017 as State Representative, but in that time, she has NOT done anything significant to improve our district.

The incumbent is NOT qualified to serve another term as a public servant for the people of District 150 and Texas. Look at her voting record.

  • The incumbent voted to privatize public schools. Your taxpayer money will be deposited into the bank accounts of private business owners who will dictate what students learn and which students are accepted into private schools. (This radical initiative is known as Education Opportunity, School Choice, and Parents’ Choice). Beware of the scam! Say NO to school vouchers!
  • The incumbent has NOT demonstrated any concerns about protecting Spring and Klein from urbanization. Consequently, our communities are negatively impacted by unplanned urbanization, unmanaged zoning, and the destruction of our green spaces.
  • The incumbent has NOT done anything to create opportunities for young people, so they can have promising careers after graduating from high school, college, or trade institutions.
  • She is NOT helping local businesses in District 150 thrive.
Infrastructure Problems
  • District 150 remains an unincorporated district with historically underrepresented constituents.
  • District 150 is experiencing aging infrastructure, rapid urbanization, and safety problems due to the lack of oversight and accountability needed to secure sustainable solutions that support the long-term growth and prosperity of our local businesses and constituents.
Threats Impacting District 150
  • Insufficient funding threatens public schools across all districts, jeopardizing their ability to provide quality, equitable, and relevant education for every student. This lack of funding undermines the future of each student, preventing them from acquiring the skills needed to compete in a global economy and thrive in rapidly evolving, technology-based careers.
  • Young graduates from high schools and colleges in District 150 often struggle to find gainful employment opportunities locally. Consequently, they frequently endure long commutes to work, as the lack of economic enterprises in Spring and Klein prevents them from securing meaningful and well-paid jobs close to home.
My Top Priorities for District 150
  • Ensure that constituents and businesses have access to resources that enable them to provide for their families.
  • Secure sufficient funding for public schools to educate students and pay teachers equitable compensation.
  • Collaborate with local, state, and federal stakeholders to improve the district’s aging infrastructure.
  • Systematically manage the rapid urbanization in Spring and Klein to prevent increased vehicle congestion, protect our natural resources, mitigate higher taxes for homeowners, and enhance public safety.
My Qualifications
  • I am the best qualified candidate to represent District 150 constituents in Austin because I bring extensive professional and personal experience in public and private management, along with the skills, education and vision needed to address the district’s most urgent needs. These include managing aging infrastructure, rapid urban development, public safety issues, underfunded schools, and property taxes, all while preventing the decline of our neighborhoods and streets.
